Breakthrough Capitalism Book List
Richard Lemmer | 06.06.12

If you have not done so already, check out the Guardian's Top 50 Breakthrough Capitalism books to find out about the latest big ideas in business.
The list features 50 books about breakthrough capitalism, which is the idea that our current business models will need to radically change to deal with this century’s social, ethical and environmental problems. The idea is being promoted by Volans, a business advice service focused on sustainability and innovation.
John Elkington, founder of Volans and author of Cannibals with Forks: The Triple Bottom Line, has also drawn together key themes from the book list. According to Elkington, the list shows that capitalism is at an inflection point, but there are reasons to be optimistic. We need to rethink classical economic theories (dust off Marx, question Smith) and accept that business could have the biggest role to play solving our increasingly complex problems. This will require new forms of thinking - and new leaders will need to rise to the challenge. Nothing short of a complete system change is needed.
